New list item )

First off-- I may or may not have lied when I said the 19th was the anniversary of my lj. The "date created" on my info page says it was the 20th, but my first entry was dated to the 19th. (O.o) So, I just picked the date that would allow me to appease my boredom at that particular moment.

But, at any rate, the holiday season is now done, and with it comes the update to my lj's layout. Gasp and amazement, it's NOT an abstract collection of random photoshop filters. >.>;; However, I'm dissapointed-- some of the good quotes got cut off, they're below the bottom of the screen. Oh, well. -_-'
EDIT: Rearranged the quotes so my favorite ones are visible. Woot.

Speaking of the holiday season, it would perhaps be a good time now to detail some of the gifts I got for this yearly gift-giving festival.

>Metroid for the NES
>The entire NES Megaman series (XDDD)
>.hack//SIGN on dvd
>Family Guy season 1 on dvd
>X2: X-Men United on DVD
>$100 Barnes & Noble Gift Card (WOOT!)
>$55 in cash
>$40 Target gift card (Yay? >.>;;)

Those were the highlights, at any rate.

Also, bah. I have to read Pride and Prejudice in its ENTIRETY over the break. Woe is me. ;___;

And finally, since I KNOW not everyone got around to commenting, I'm linking to my last entry here.

Bleah. First off, I'm getting tired of leaving my Dad's house angry. I always go there thinking that I've exaggerated the troubles within my mind, and that it couldn't possibly be that bad... then I go there, and he CONSISTENTLY proves me wrong. I leave in a huff, and through the following week I cool off just enough to start the cycle over again. DAMMIT. Somebody stop the ride, I wanna get off. ><

Second, I finished Son of a Witch. And... I loved it. ^____^ I especially liked the romance between Liir and Trism, I thought that was really cool. And it's completely different from the first book in that-- Wicked pretty much gave closure and catharsis to the story, and a sequel was the last thing I expected, so that when I saw there WAS a sequel, it surprised the hell out of me. But Son of a Witch leaves NOTHING closed, there are just so many little things left open, they all coalesce, so that the ending is just one big loose end-- so now it feels like there HAS to be another book, when there's little to no chance there will be. Dammit. But I loved it.

Third, snow. Since I couldn't get on LJ last week, I couldn't write about it, but there was SNOW last week. HERE. That's saying something-- we don't get much in the way of snow where I live, and last year was an especially bleak year in that sense. But on Tuesday, we got a TON of snow, about during third period. That's AP Lit for me, and the flakes were absolutely huge. Ms. Dann was trying to keep us concentrating on the discussion, but everybody was distracted by the snow, so finally she let us get it out of our system-- "Alright, everybody, I want you to write down one simile to describe the snow. Write it on your notes." My simile-- the snow is like a shower of feathers. (And it really WAS.) That's when I thought to myself, If I see a red one, someone's gonna DIE. (I can feel Michael disowning me for that. XD) But yeah. We actually went outside into the snow during that period, because we were reading lines from a play and we had to shout. Got soaked, naturally. Then I saw Michael outside acting like an idiot, catching snowflakes on the tongue and such. Brilliant.

That snow didn't last long, though-- in fact, it had died by the end of that period. BUT. It snowed a TON on thursday (started at about the same time as on tuesday), and it stuck, and hung around all day. Next day was a snow day, but I would just as soon have gone to school for all the fun I had. The snow stubbornly resisted melting completely all weekend, even though not enough remained for another snow day. Not that I minded terribly.

Parental units have been bugging me about a christmas list. Ironically, I always have a hard time thinking of stuff to put on these lists, since I usually lack an idea of what to ask for. Buh, whatever.

Before I forget-- I have been inspired by Taylor to write about a geeky .hack-related dream I had this weekend. Well, it's only a snippet of a dream-- I can't recall dreams with the length and accuracy that Taylor apparently can. >___<
yaaaay for geekiness )

As a brief aside, I saw the Viewtiful Joe anime this saturday. Scary.

God. Ever notice how I don't make an entry unless I have a ton of stuff to say? that's why I don't update very often. >__<;; Guh, I need to shorten my entries.

Wheee, my AP Lit class is full of dorks. We were supposed to take the Hamlet final today, and we had a sub. Well, guess what happened? The sub thought we were another one of Dann's 10th grade english classes, and so we watched a video on Edgar Allan Poe (Which I swear I've seen before >_O), did an assignment on it that I KNOW was pointless cuz it wasn't our curriculum, and skipped the Hamlet final altogether. And nobody said a word because nobody wanted to take it. What is the fucking point, people? Not only is it the easiest thing you've ever seen (Matching up quotes with the people who said them, omg teh hardness X3), but we're going to have to take it anyways, all this means is that Ms. Dann is going to be pissed when she gets back on tuesday. And wow, a whole weekend of studying is going to make a huge difference, especially with this four-hour-long play that we've been working on, analyzing, and discussing for the past TWO FREAKIN' MONTHS. Ms. Dann said in the first week or so that we would be eating, breathing, and sleeping Hamlet. She was in no way exaggerating. And now we're going to have to eat, sleep, and breathe it for one more day than planned. Lovely logic, people.

On another note, I've officially gotten pwned by Cubia in .hack//MUTATION. Seriously. I fought that thing for what must have been a half hour, and (thanks in no small part to those damned Repth Gomoras-- and Physical Tolerance >_<) barely made a dent in its HP. Matt has some leveling up to do. x_x

Five new senior-project-related items added to the now-familiar checklist. More on that perhaps later.

I have a 6-8 page essay to do this weekend. Buh, the humanity. *dead'd*

I am screwed. I am so totally, utterly beyond screwed.

I just went to Beyond High School, a yearly event where one can attend seminars and get information on colleges, scholarships, financial aid, and the like. And I have realized, more clearly than ever, that I have no idea what I'm doing with my life.

I've procrastinated on researching colleges and scholarships. I have no extracurricular activities, outstanding awards, or really any credentials besides my going-on-six-years perfect attendence record-- and we'll just see how much that matters in the world of academia. I have nothing that would make me even worth considering for a scholarship. I don't have a job, I don't have a drivers license, and I have no idea how I would balance a job, a car, and school with how badly things are going right now. Since I don't have a job, I have no idea how I'll pay for college. Not having a license is seriously starting to take its toll on my everyday life, like having no control over my schedule, falling asleep in class as a result, being forced to go to my dads and being trapped there, having to shamefacedly dodge the subject whenever someone asks me something related to "my car" or "my driving". I realize now that I've been wasting my life away playing video games, or hanging out on the computer like I'm doing now. My AP classes are starting to drown me academically. The SATs are approaching and I haven't studied at all. Not to mention a whole host of personal issues I'd rather not go into right here. All in all, I've gotten myself into a fine pickle, and I can't begin to imagine how I'll get out of it.

If there's any cause for celebration, it's that a) I finally think I know what college I'm going to-- Green River-- and B) I've finally decided on my major (Japanese), which is a HUGE step forward. Otherwise, my life is in shambles.

They haven't invented an emoticon that will accurately describe how I feel right now, and I doubt they ever will.

Yay, registering for da SATs. -_-

Also, I still get a lot of homework. I managed to get TWO ESSAYS to do over the weekend, plus some revisions on two essays I did in the past. Then more stuff in Japanese (That STILL ended up being review ><). Plus two book assignments in Physics. I'm ready to collapse over here.

Oh, and when I said I might be putting my pictures up... I meant that there was no chance I would. So, yeah.

And in other news: Life is pain. Thank you, and good night.

I get too much homework from my AP classes. What on earth was I on when I decided to take two at a time? ><;; Blech.

Moving right into the play-by-play:

The bus problems apparently haven't been fixed. I had to ride on a train of two busses because the first was completely full when it got to my stop. The upside is that it filled up right before I got on, so I got to get on the completely empty second bus. ^^

First period was OK, we got our textbooks. However, today we started in on the review. Blech, I don't like review. At all. ><

Second period, we also got textbooks. Started with the work, that was fun. >< Funny thing about metrics, seems like nobody in this entire damned country knows how to use them, but they're actually much easier than our normal system. But everybody says they're hard because they're different.

Lunch. Packed with people, since this year we're newly restricted to eating in the commons and the gym lobby. Michael's the only person I know with that lunch, that's awkward. >>;

Third period was kind of bleh. We discussed the one-pager from yesterday because we didn't have enough time yesterday (even though I've more than enough experience doing these accursed things >.>). Then we took a test based on the summer homework, and I probably got a C on it. Bah, it's only the things you miss that are on the test.

Fourth period was nice, though. We discussed current events, like Hurricane Katrina and the stampede in Iraq. (it wasn't the stories, but the discussions that were nice. ><) I think I'm probably going to like that class. ^^

In other news, I might finally be moving downstairs at my mom's sometime soon. So long as we run the cable down there, I'll have internet, plus TV, and be able to actually use my NES in my own room. Plus, the space! ^^

Also, I might get a cellphone soon. *left behind by technology* >.>

whew. The only word that could accurately describe the first day of school is "chaotic". ><

Started out at 5:00, cuz I STILL have to get up early, since my mom goes to work too late to drop me off. Get everything ready and leave at 6:00, as per usual, and get to my dad's at 6:30ish. Five hours of waiting then, because now that 9th graders have been added to the school, half the student body needs an orientation. Ride a bus route that was changed since last year, probably because of the addition of Bonney Lake High School. Get to school at 12:15 or so and talk to friends for a few minutes, then it's off to the stadium for an assembly discussing new rules and stuff this year. Then classes start; since it's less than even half a normal day, each class is about twenty minutes long.

Period 1: Japanese. The only class in which I have friends. v_v Got a small packet to do, but otherwise it was fairly uneventful.

Period 2: Physics. Once again, got a packet, uneventful.

Period 3: AP Lit & Comp. Discussed the summer homework and found out that my Characters page was a little too sparse to get me a good grade, so I ended up having to add on to it tonight. Got a "before and after one-pager" assignment that I've gotten now three times since I started high school, and I swear that the assignment sheet has been identical every time. It's a one-page construction paper-style assignment that has information about ourselves, as well as "before" (before we started school) and "after" (more recent) photos of us. That's due monday, but I'm going to borrow a couple of things from my previous one since I haven't exactly changed significantly in the last year.

Period 4: AP Gov't & Politics. Got the summer homework that I'd missed since I registered for this class late. Talked about some current events, but that discussion didn't exactly last long because twenty-minute classes aren't really conducive to discussions of any sort.

Then came the bus ride. Oh, the bus ride. Apparently, the people that run the bus routes don't exactly excel at planning. Everything was fine in the morning because no freshmen, sophomores, or seventh/eighth graders were riding the bus. But in the afternoon, when everyone had to ride the bus, it overflowed. The route had to be split between two busses. At least that gave me time to hang out before the second one arrived, though. That's pretty much the only silver lining. The bus had a driver that knew nothing about the route, nor the area, and was full of whiny freshmen all trying to direct her at once. It was nothing but "Can't you stop here? My house is right there!" and "I'm gonna be late because of you!" the whole way there. That's an experience I'm none too eager to relive.

Fast forward to tonight, when I finish off my summer homework and start gathering stuff for the other two AP assignments. At least the one in AP Gov't has stuff that focuses on our personal political views. ^^

All in all, I don't think I can accurately judge what the coming year will be like until I actually go through a whole day of it. There will probably be an update tomorrow.

Thing one-- Took the math final, I think I did pretty well on it. ^^

Thing two-- Today was the last day of school, and I am now officially a Senior. Its not so much that I'm afraid of graduating, but I'm worried about the Senior Project next year... I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to do for it. >_< And I also have some homework for AP English Lit over the summer... which involves reading the Bible in order to gain understanding about biblical allusions in literature. I also probably have summer homework for AP Gov't and Politics, but I didn't get it from the teacher, so I'll have to email her for it. x_x

Thing three-- I got a MySpace Account finally... I've been hearing people talking about it ad nauseum around school and everywhere else, so I decided to see what the deal was. It's pretty cool... To me, though, it looks like it's mainly a way of meeting new people, because its blog features are pretty much a watered-down version of Livejournal's. I did a search, and there's about 70 pages of results for people that attend or have attended my school. o.o

Thing four--

It's wierd... the description for Avoidant personality disorder fits me almost exactly. o.o The rest aren't like me at all, though. I may have to do some research on this thing...
