Oh hey I was gonna do a Christmas post wasn't I.

Well, better late than never!

  • Shirts. One of which is an Avatar shirt, lol. I've never even seen the movie.

  • A kickass jacket.

  • $50 Barnes & Noble gift card. Bought And Another Thing, A Wrinkle In Time, and The Sorceress with it. $8 remaining.

  • $50 in Wal Mart gift cards. Used to buy a prepaid WoW card. $20 remaining.

  • A Classic Controller for the Wii.

  • Socks and underwear. You would not believe how much I actually needed these.

  • A metric fuckton of sweets. They're all gone now.

  • A bunch of hygiene stuff that I'll be needing for the dorm.

  • A microwave! (Okay, it wasn't actually a christmas gift, we got it a few days after christmas. But it's still awesome!)

And technically the laptop and external hard drive were early christmas gifts.

IN OTHER NEWS: I leave on sunday holy shit holy shit holy shit.

Nervous as all hell, but I guess it's going to be alright.

I just wish my fucking loan would disburse so I could have the money to pay the bill and not owe the school just under $5000. >|

So I decided that, if my Dad and Stepmom bug me for a Christmas list again this year, I'm going to ask for replacements of all those books my Dad got rid of that I used to own.

So I'm digging through old LJ entries and stuff looking for hints and reminders of the stuff that's missing. Curse my imperfect memory.

So far confirmed missing are:

1. Understanding Comics (Scott McCloud)
2. Reinventing Comics (Scott McCloud)
3. More manga than I frankly care to replace. Including volumes of Case Closed, Naruto, and Yu-Gi-Oh (some dating as far back as our first Uwajimaya field trip in High School!)
4. A Wrinkle In Time (Madeline L'Engle)
5. Godless (Pete Hautman)
6. A few volumes of Animorphs, Everworld, and Remnants (K.A. Applegate)
7. A Horse And His Boy, Prince Caspian (C.S. Lewis)

3 and 6 I'm not going to ask for because there were too many. 5 I won't ask for because I really don't care. 7 because I still won't have the complete series anyway. (Also applies to 6).

I really wish I had kept a record of the stuff I owned. I'm almost certain there are more books I owned that are gone now.

Wrath of the Lich King
$30 WoW game card
Gift cards: $50 GameStop, $25 Best Buy, $25 Wal Mart
XKCD jacket (but it was a size too small, so instead I'm getting this.)
The Dark Knight on DVD
Stocking stuffers: hygiene stuff (trust me, my dad and stepmom stuff EVERYONE'S stockings with that) and... hot sauce. Dead srs. Three bottles of it.

The GameStop card has already gone towards Persona 4, which should be arriving in 5-10 business days. /o/ (Taylor, Michael: WHEN IT COMES, WE MUST MEET UP AND I WILL BRING IT. FOR GREAT JUSTICE.)

New list item )

First off-- I may or may not have lied when I said the 19th was the anniversary of my lj. The "date created" on my info page says it was the 20th, but my first entry was dated to the 19th. (O.o) So, I just picked the date that would allow me to appease my boredom at that particular moment.

But, at any rate, the holiday season is now done, and with it comes the update to my lj's layout. Gasp and amazement, it's NOT an abstract collection of random photoshop filters. >.>;; However, I'm dissapointed-- some of the good quotes got cut off, they're below the bottom of the screen. Oh, well. -_-'
EDIT: Rearranged the quotes so my favorite ones are visible. Woot.

Speaking of the holiday season, it would perhaps be a good time now to detail some of the gifts I got for this yearly gift-giving festival.

>Metroid for the NES
>The entire NES Megaman series (XDDD)
>.hack//SIGN on dvd
>Family Guy season 1 on dvd
>X2: X-Men United on DVD
>$100 Barnes & Noble Gift Card (WOOT!)
>$55 in cash
>$40 Target gift card (Yay? >.>;;)

Those were the highlights, at any rate.

Also, bah. I have to read Pride and Prejudice in its ENTIRETY over the break. Woe is me. ;___;

And finally, since I KNOW not everyone got around to commenting, I'm linking to my last entry here.

Today marks the anniversary of a very special event.

On December 19, 1732, Poor Richard's Almanack was first published.

AND, on December 19, 2004, I created this LiveJournal. Glee. ^^

To celebrate, I may actually update this tired old layout, once the holiday season draws to a close and I take down this spiffy Christmahannukwanzakah-themed background. That is, if I'm not too lazy. ¬¬

Bi-yearly field trip to Uwajimaya is tomorrow, and I'm gonna pick up some Japanese manga while I'm there so I can translate it for my senior project. Apparently, the project proposal is good, it's just that I need to find a mentor and figure out how to document the hours.

Also, I need to get off my lazy ass and register for the SATs. The next deadline for registration is this thursday, after all. ><

On a slightly more angsty note, I may finally be able to talk to someone about being diagnosed with APD. And it only took six months, too. >.>

Anyways, stats for this LJ-Anniversary bash:

Friends: 8
Mutual Friends: 7 (You know who you are. Michael! >o<)
Communities: 16
RSS Feeds: 5
Entries to date: 70

Documented Interests: 78

Also as a celebration, I wanna have everybody who reads this entry leave a comment. Seriously, EVERYBODY. ^^

Oh, and The list is under a cut now. )

God, this "Merry Christmas" vs. "Happy Holidays" debate amuses me to no end. Seriously, if you actually care that much about the specific way somebody uses to wish you or others well, that's your problem. Heaven forbid people should be offended by the existence of other holiday celebrations.

Perhaps we should take a moment to reflect on what the season is really all about.

Perspective is everything, people!

Merry Christmas AND Happy Holidays,

Bleah. First off, I'm getting tired of leaving my Dad's house angry. I always go there thinking that I've exaggerated the troubles within my mind, and that it couldn't possibly be that bad... then I go there, and he CONSISTENTLY proves me wrong. I leave in a huff, and through the following week I cool off just enough to start the cycle over again. DAMMIT. Somebody stop the ride, I wanna get off. ><

Second, I finished Son of a Witch. And... I loved it. ^____^ I especially liked the romance between Liir and Trism, I thought that was really cool. And it's completely different from the first book in that-- Wicked pretty much gave closure and catharsis to the story, and a sequel was the last thing I expected, so that when I saw there WAS a sequel, it surprised the hell out of me. But Son of a Witch leaves NOTHING closed, there are just so many little things left open, they all coalesce, so that the ending is just one big loose end-- so now it feels like there HAS to be another book, when there's little to no chance there will be. Dammit. But I loved it.

Third, snow. Since I couldn't get on LJ last week, I couldn't write about it, but there was SNOW last week. HERE. That's saying something-- we don't get much in the way of snow where I live, and last year was an especially bleak year in that sense. But on Tuesday, we got a TON of snow, about during third period. That's AP Lit for me, and the flakes were absolutely huge. Ms. Dann was trying to keep us concentrating on the discussion, but everybody was distracted by the snow, so finally she let us get it out of our system-- "Alright, everybody, I want you to write down one simile to describe the snow. Write it on your notes." My simile-- the snow is like a shower of feathers. (And it really WAS.) That's when I thought to myself, If I see a red one, someone's gonna DIE. (I can feel Michael disowning me for that. XD) But yeah. We actually went outside into the snow during that period, because we were reading lines from a play and we had to shout. Got soaked, naturally. Then I saw Michael outside acting like an idiot, catching snowflakes on the tongue and such. Brilliant.

That snow didn't last long, though-- in fact, it had died by the end of that period. BUT. It snowed a TON on thursday (started at about the same time as on tuesday), and it stuck, and hung around all day. Next day was a snow day, but I would just as soon have gone to school for all the fun I had. The snow stubbornly resisted melting completely all weekend, even though not enough remained for another snow day. Not that I minded terribly.

Parental units have been bugging me about a christmas list. Ironically, I always have a hard time thinking of stuff to put on these lists, since I usually lack an idea of what to ask for. Buh, whatever.

Before I forget-- I have been inspired by Taylor to write about a geeky .hack-related dream I had this weekend. Well, it's only a snippet of a dream-- I can't recall dreams with the length and accuracy that Taylor apparently can. >___<
yaaaay for geekiness )

As a brief aside, I saw the Viewtiful Joe anime this saturday. Scary.

God. Ever notice how I don't make an entry unless I have a ton of stuff to say? that's why I don't update very often. >__<;; Guh, I need to shorten my entries.

Well, I'm starting to feel a lot better now that the Christmas festivities have drawn to a close. I decided to get Banjo-Tooie from an eBay auction, and the idea of a new computer to replace the one I'm using now (affectionately nicknamed "The Dinosaur"), which, to give you an idea of how old it is, still has a sticker bragging that it's Y2K compliant, is starting to grow on me.
The day started out with me getting up at 9:30 (my usual get-up time on days off) after spending the night at my dad's. Jamie, my stepsister, was off at a friend of hers', and Jim, my stepbrother, was visiting his dad in Canada; My OTHER stepsister, Jennifer, has come from Spokane to visit for the holidays. Now, we weren't opening Christmas presents straight away, because my stepmom was at work, and we were saving the obligatory present-opening until everyone was there. I starved for a little bit, took a shower, and we went to my uncle's house for breakfast, and gift-exchanging (there are at least 3 gift-exchange get-togethers every christmas in my family, between my Mom's side, my Dad's side, and my Stepmom's side). After that, we headed home, where my stepmom was waiting, and we started the present-opening. Everyone seemed to like the gifts I got them, so that's good. ^^ Then, after the all-important time set aside for playing with our new stuffs, we left went to have Christmas dinner at my Grandma's house. A dinner in which the main dish was turkey sandwiches. Yeah, we decided to keep it simple this year. Then, I was dropped back off at my Mom's, and here I am, several hours later, writing this entry.
Now, on to the present report, eh?

1) Final Fantasy Chronicles
2) Final Fantasy 10 (Used, badly scratched -- time to start Skip-Doctoring :p)
3) Shrek 2 on DVD
4) Guiness Records 2005 (A gift I ask for, and subsequently get, every year)
5) A Duct-Tape Wallet (Re-gifting, anyone?)
6) A snow-sled (Now the only missing component is the snow >_<)
7) $5 (Now, does my Aunt know me or what? XD)

Those were the highlights, at least... There were slightly too many to remember. I also procured 5 new Yu-Gi-Oh cards from son of a cousin (what relation does that make him? Second cousin? O.o) who had recieved a deck or two for christmas that morning. That means I got: Monster Reborn, De-Spell, Change of Heart, Shadow Spell, and Tribute to the Doomed. ^^
So, that's all. At least, that's all that I can think of at the moment, until the very second I submit this entry and remember an important detail that I left out. Oh, well.
majutsukai: (Default)
OK. Time to put the un-burdening powers of a journal to the test.
I suppose that anyone actually reading this is wanting to know what I got today. Here we go:

1. Strongbad_email.exe DVD
2. Toaster *
3. $100 Barnes and Noble Gift Card (^^)
4. A new computer

I know I made it quite clear through my previous entries that I was very excited about the idea of getting those games. I'm really mad at myself for that now, because I was setting myself up for dissapointment, and I knew it. And yet, I still let it happen.
And then there's the matter of the new computer. My mother had to go out and spend what I'm sure is a ridiculous amount of money to get me a computer that I didn't ask for, nor particularly need.
And now I feel horrible for not liking the gifts, and it all jumbles up inside until I have no idea what I feel. -_-
All in all, I hope tomorrow gives me reason to feel better about myself.

* I've been complaining for the longest time about the toaster we have now-- a mickey one that plays the Mickey theme song every time it pops up. Minus the volume knob and off switch. Apparently, she listened. >_
majutsukai: (Default)
I get to open gifts! ^________________^
You can expect a FULL report from me tomorrow.
Aaand, in other news, my cold is as stubborn as ever. It's as if it's mad at me for being optimistic about it yesterday. -_-'
But, besides that, everything's, for lack of a better phrase, downright peachy. :p
And don't worry, I'm sure that my journal entries will get better after Christmas passes.
majutsukai: (Default)
Wow... Time is actually moving... fast, now that I've started working on Project Oracle more. I may yet conquer this week. ^^
Also, my disease formerly known as the Cold has been reduced to nothing more than a slight stuffiness of the left nostril... I expect it to be gone by tomorrow. ^^
Also, I'm grossly behind on my reading of the Grapes of Wrath that's supposed to be done by the end of the Vacation. I'm on about chapter 25 out of thirty something, when I promised myself I'd read one chapter a day. Grah, I'd better get on that. >_<
And, as always, one day closer to Decemberween. ^^
majutsukai: (Default)
Well, while I'm on a roll, why not update for a third day in a row? Even though there's nothing at all outstanding about today except for the complete, aggravating lack of outstanding things. I think it's a little therapudic, writing in this journal, though... And it provides for a nice, if short, break in monotony. Jesus, this is not how I wanted to spend my Christmas Vacation... Er, make that "Decemberween Vacation". People aren't allowed to say "Christmas" anymore, are they? Feh.
In other news, my cold appears to be going away; but it's taking its sweet time at it. WHY WON'T YOU DIE!?
Ahem. Yes. You're probably going to be able to expect once-daily updates in this journal for the remainder of the break-- not counting those days I'm at my Dad's house, of course, where I've effectively been cut off from all technology except for the TV in the living room. All because of one late assignment. And one lie about a late assignment. And, have I mentioned that the punishment is to last for a few weeks? That's not all, either, folks-- because he can't regulate my technology usage at my Mom's house, which is roughly half the time, he extended that to a MONTH. I should be grateful about having contact with the outside world over here at least, but I'm still sour about that punishment. I can only hope that, like he's made a habit of doing in the past, he gives me a temporary reprieve for Christmas.
So, yeah. Still counting off the days. One by one by one by one by...
majutsukai: (Default)
God... Waiting for something to happen can make time move SLOWLY. And when time moves slower, you exhaust all the things to do a lot faster. And when THAT happens, the boredom sets in. Murphy's Law at work, people. >_< AND, to make matters worse, I miscalculated the amount of time left till Christmas... And, as another example of Murphy's Law, I UNDER-guessed. huuuumph... *buries face*
And, to top it all off, I forgot to mention last time that I'm currently fighting a cold. Which I hate. With every fiber of my being. Thank GOD, it looks like it's in remission, though... but not without causing me three days of complete misery. *snrrrk* *sneeze* Those are three days thad I'll dever ged back... *snrk*
The upside? We can chalk off one more day till every American's favorite holiday. Wait... At least, mine; that's no offense to those of you that celebrate Hannukah and Kwanzaa. That's why they say "Happy Holidays, right? Yeah. Anyways. Chalk off one day. Make it two, cuz, as a result of my split household, I get to open half of my presents on Christmas Eve. Morning. ^^
Soooo... yeah. I really don't have anything interesting to say; which is my First Amendment right. This entry was mostly a product of the afformentioned boredom. So, happy December 20th, everyone. May it be the best you've ever had! :p
majutsukai: (Default)
It was the day to be remembered...
The day that shocked everyone...
The day...

...That Majutsukai got a livejournal :p
Hey everyone, welcome to the first entry of a true n00b. You'll have to forgive the simplistic layout this journal has right now; I'm still experimenting with all of Livejournal's features. Let's call this entry "The guinea pig entry". ^^
Don't expect anything more than sporadic updates to this thing, any further than the deadly combination of my bad memory, school- and homework-filled schedule, and just plain circumstances will allow. Which isn't too often, as the few people that follow my webpage know all too well. Besides that, I'll try to update as often as possible.
The emptiness of that promise aside, I think it's time to start on the actual entry-- that part that makes it a "journal". Yeah, go figure.

Anyways. It's... *checks calender*... four days till Christmas. Beings that I live in two different households, I have to produce twice the Christmas-listage of the average person my age (of course, I think that my parents and step-mom are the only ones in the world that ask lists of their children at this age... but I digress.), and I have an annoying habit of not being able to think of what to put on them. However, if I get half the things on my lists, then this year will be a bountiful one indeed... Let me give you an idea of some of the stuff that I've requested (this should also give you something of an insight into my interests as well):

>1. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories (GBA)-- Ah, yes, the coveted gift. And the expensive one. @_@
>2. Banjo-Tooie (N64)-- I may be even more excited over this one than the first (Don't smite me!); I've raked the prequel clean, and rented this a few years back, thouroughly enjoying it; so, I think it's high time I added it to my permanent repetoire.
>3. Yu-Gi-Oh Starter Deck -- Right now, my collection of cards consists of 20 mismatched cards assembled from various booster packs; I've never played an actual duel, and I WANT to, dammit!
>4. strongbad_email.exe DVD -- No words are needed for this one. Homestar is god. GOD, I TELL YOU!
>5. Final Fantasy Chronicles (PSX)-- This little gem is all I need to complete my collection of Final collections. Except for the GBA FF1 and FF2... I'm STILL mad about them releasing those damned games (super cool added features and all) RIGHT after I got my grubby paws on the PSX versions. The NERVE of Square-Enix...
>6. Japanese reference -- Japanese class is just teaching too little, too slowly. I MUST LEARN!!! *snarl*

Aand, that's it. Well, not everyting, just the important stuff. And, with the remaining... *checks watch*... Four days and eight minutes until Christmas, quite frankly, I can't wait. ^^ I know, it's childish of me. Who cares, really?

Anyways, that'll wrap up my first entry. *reads back* GOD, it ended up being longer than I expected... Don't expect that to happen again, either, people... I think I just exhausted my repetoire of things to talk about. >_
